  This is a manufactured controversy to sell movie tickets. Rex reed should be ashamed of himself for resorting to this tactic with universal.

  What’s wrong with calling a fat person “fat”? Moreover, Melissa McCarthy’s entire shtick is being fat, ugly, and obnoxious. This is *not* the same as a John Candy or Chris Farley.

  Also, those references to her “great comic timing” are absurd. Exactly, how can you evaluate timing in a movie? A movie is edited from hundreds of little parts and takes. Timing can only be evaluated in, well, real time.

  Besides, most guys are not happy about shelling out good money to see a lead actress (not a supporting player) who is fat, ugly, and obnoxious.
